Log Me In, please
You’ve most likely heard of GoToMyPc. It’s a web-based remote control utility allowing you to control a computer across the Internet. It’s not free. You must register and select a plan which determines how much you pay. This is where I lose interest. I flat out don’t want to pay for crap. I’m used to seeing banner advertisements on web pages. That’s what makes things free for the consumer.
I’m on board with banner ads so when I came across LogMeIn I thought it was too good to be true. A free web-based remote control utility? Unheard of. This isn’t a cheap knock off either. Supporting firewalls, proxy servers and a downloadable agent which checks in with the big server in the sky is pretty cool considering it’s free! Did I mention that?
IT guys won’t open the firewall for you? No problem.
Want to help a family member when they get stuck? No problem.
