The Annual Trip To Bates Nut Farm

The Annual Trip To Bates Nut Farm

For the last few years we’ve abandoned the closest pumpkin patches in favor of the mother-of-all pumpkin patches, Bates Nut Farm.  About an hours drive from our home, we set out with friends and family in search of the best pumpkin in the land.  It’s more like a carnival experience with the vendors set up selling all types of unhealthy badness.  There are geese and chickens, goats and ponies, tractor hay rides and a maze to lose yourself in.  Plenty of pumpkins are spread around for you to select from, and for the more adventurous types, a sprawling field where you can select your very own oversized, slightly out-of-shape, hopefully not too heavy to lift pumpkin.  There are lots of photo opportunities here, too.

They had a rock climbing wall which Zoe said she didn’t want to try, but after she watched some bigger kids do it she changed her mind. Barely making the 35 pound cutoff, we harnessed her up and she went for it.  Who knew she would be into this? Although she didn’t make it to the top she seemed to have a blast trying.
